Your School Account

What do I need to open an account?

An email address that has not already been registered to the site.

Why does the email address need to be unique?

The email address acts as a login/ username and the system only allows one login per person.

What should I choose as a password?

Something that you will easily remember. For security purposes something that is a combination of letters and numbers would be best.

Why do you need to know which pupils have free school meals, special needs or are ethnic minorities?

This information is required for the records of the Heritage Lottery Fund who are sponsoring the project.

I have registered but can’t login, why?

When you register an account you must wait for a member of the Going and Coming team to approve it. This will normally only a take few hours. If it’s any longer email admin@primarycolours.net

 Who can access my account?

-The school admin has access to school, teacher and pupil accounts.

-Individual teachers have access to their class accounts and pupils registered under that class.

-Pupils have access to their own accounts only.

What do I do if I forget my password?

Click the “I have forgotten my password” link on the login screen. You will then be asked to enter your email address. We will send you a temporary password to access the website where you will be able to reset your password in the membership area.

Is there a limit to the number of classes/ pupils per class?

No.

Submitting a Story

What should my story be about?

The idea of the Going and Coming project is to collect stories detailing migration to, from and within Yorkshire. The story should be based on one such journey and can be submitted in whatever format you feel is most appropriate eg Prose, Diary entry, Interview Transcript.

For example stories visit www.goingandcoming.co.uk/explore

What kind of sound recordings can go on the site?

The audio files should be a recording of the interview the story is based on. Sound clips should be no longer than two minutes each.

What file format do sound recordings need to be?

Recordings should be uploaded in MP3 format.

What kind of images should go on the site?

Images that relate to the story. Ideally images that the children have produced themselves (photos or drawings) rather than download images. Images must not contain sensitive information eg Bank Details or addresses.

What format do images need to be in?

Images should be in JPEG format.

I have finished my story and the site won’t publish it.

The class teacher must confirm that the parental agreement forms and interviewee agreement forms have been completed. They then need to check the story and approve publication on the site

Can I edit the story after it has been published?

Yes, just go through the admin area to make any changes you wish to make.

Who can edit stories?

The pupil who has written it, the class teacher, the school admin account holder and members of The Going and Coming management team.
