Going and Coming

Going & Coming aims to preserve the heritage of migrants to this country by encouraging the recording of their stories. Our experience in developing educational resources with children has helped us to enable children to create resources which can be used by both other children and other schools.

STAGE ONE - SEPT 2008 – SEPT 2009

Setting up Steering Group, Project Planning, hiring staff, building project website and evaluation models.


STAGE TWO - SEPTEMBER TERM 2009

Piloting a play about migration in ten schools. Children wrote pieces based on their interviews and uploaded their work to the project website.


STAGE THREE - JAN – JULY 2010

Primary Colours created a cross curricular teaching pack with full lesson plans, resources, sample children's work, photocopiables and links to teaching pack; based on the children’s stories.


STAGE FOUR - JULY 2010 – SEPT 2010

Primary Colours commission a new play and workshop based on some of the stories from the teaching pack. To date, Boat People has performed 47 shows to schools throughout North-East Lincolnshire and Yorkshire.


STAGE FIVE - SEPT 2010 – APRIL 2013

‘Boat People’ Tour to schools in Yorkshire & The Humber.

 

STAGE SIX - APRIL 2013 – SEPT 2013

Evaluation report written, published & disseminated to all stakeholders. Archives of material formally handed over to museums / archive agency for posterity.
